Tragic incident: NIT Patna student found hanging in hostel

A tragic incident occurred at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna when a student was found hanging in her hostel room, according to police reports on Saturday.

The deceased, who hailed from Andhra Pradesh, was found hanging from a ceiling fan by the authorities. A suicide note was found at the crime scene.

“On Friday night at around 10:15 p.m., police received a distress call reporting that a female student had committed suicide by hanging. On arrival, her body was found and subsequently taken to the nearest government hospital where she was declared dead,” said a police statement, which did not disclose the identity of the student. The body has been sent for autopsy. Police have informed the student's family and are collecting scientific evidence to further the investigation.

The exact cause of the incident is still unknown. The news of the student's death spread quickly and led to protests by numerous students against the institute's management.
