Update, Friday (20 September), 4.25pm: At the press conference before the match against VfB Stuttgart, Nuri Sahin commented on the situation surrounding Anton and Guirassy when asked by RUHR24. The coach made it clear that he was not worried:

“The boys are old enough, they are no longer 18-year-old players who could be triggered by this.” I think they both know how to deal with it. Of course, I don't know what the reaction will be, I can only say that I am happy that both of them are with us and I don't have the feeling that an arm around the shoulder or a conversation is necessary. They will be ready, they will perform.”

BVB against Stuttgart: Dortmund professional threatened with nasty fan attacks

+++ Hello and welcome to the live ticker of the Bundesliga match between VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund. Kick-off is on Sunday (September 22) at 5.30 p.m. in the MHP Arena in Stuttgart. RUHR24 will report on the party in the live ticker. +++

Stuttgart/Dortmund – After BVB's 3-0 victory over FC Bruges in the Champions League during the week, coach Nuri Sahin's team will be back in the Bundesliga on Sunday. There, the local club will face a real top player, VfB Stuttgart, who were also active in the premier class. Despite a good performance, the Swabians lost 1-3 to Real Madrid.

Looking back on last season, Borussia Dortmund should be warned. The Black and Yellows lost all three games in the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup against Stuttgart. At that time, however, BVB newcomers Serhou Guirassy and Waldemar Anton were still wearing the VfB jersey. Both moved to the club in the summer.

Anton's move in particular caused great outrage among the Stuttgart fan scene, as the then captain had only extended his contract in January 2024 and made a declaration of loyalty.

BVB vs. Stuttgart: VfB fans angry about Anton's departure

The central defender said at the time: “I feel the trust of VfB every day.” We are on the same wavelength, there are just so many things that are right for me here. I feel good and am therefore very happy about the contract extension. I am looking forward to the next few years in the jersey with the chest ring.”

A few months later, his move to BVB became official. The 28-year-old was then subjected to some harsh insults on social media. There were many terms such as “rat”, “hypocrite” and “mercenary”. Anton himself reacted to the hostility in the BVB training camp. Nevertheless, the reunion in the MHP Arena is likely to be unpleasant. There may be new fan attacks against Anton.
