Discussion | Criminal defense lawyer speaks out in the Michael Lomas case

JOHANNESBURG – Minister of Electricity and Energy Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has welcomed the extradition of fugitive Michael Lomas.

Lomas was brought back to South Africa from the UK today.

He is involved in bribing Eskom employees to win a R745 million contract for the Kusile power station.

Lomas was first arrested in the UK in 2021 at the request of South African authorities.

He joins three former Eskom executives and the CEO of Tubular Construction, the company he was then part of.

In April 2016, Tubular Construction was awarded the contract to build air-cooled condensers in Kusile.
