Police investigate reported drowning in Lake Pioneer

PIONEER, Ohio (WTVG) – Authorities are investigating a reported drowning in Lake Pioneer.

According to Pioneer Police, officers responded to Lake Pioneer off Lakeshore Drive in Williams County on a report of a suspected boating accident in which someone drowned Wednesday evening.

Officers spoke with a person on scene who confirmed a boating accident and drowning. In a statement from the department on Thursday, the department said the situation was tense and that it would update the public as more information became available. In the message, the chief thanked the public for their patience during the investigation.

The police have not yet provided any further information about the possible causes of the accident or the identity of the person who presumably drowned.
