Man accused of rape, released on bail, shoots 17-year-old victim: police

A rape defendant who was out on bail shot his victim here, police said on Friday, adding that the man was arrested along with another person.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Shrish Chandra said, “A 17-year-old girl was shot dead in the Kaila Devi police station area on the night of September 18. Charges have been filed against two men.” The main accused, 20-year-old Rinku, had raped the girl and was charged against him at Ghaziabad police station in February. He was released from jail on bail earlier this month, he said.

According to a complaint filed by the victim's family, the underage girl was shot while riding home on a motorcycle with her brother and mother.

The family claims that Rinku and another person intercepted them and opened fire, police said.

“We are investigating all aspects of the shootings. We are also taking video surveillance footage from the area,” the official said.
