Suspected stabber shot by police in laundromat – NBC New York

A suspect involved in a stabbing attack at a Brooklyn laundromat was shot and killed by state police officers after crashing a stolen car in upstate New York, police said.

The man, identified by police as Ali Ali, stabbed an employee at a laundromat in the Bath Beach neighborhood several times in the face and neck on Monday, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition, the New York Police Department said in a news release that included a surveillance photo of the attacker.

The owner of the laundromat told NBC New York that the stabber was angry because his laundry was not done.

Two days later, the same man was driving a stolen car and was being pursued by state police when the vehicle crashed and caught fire on the New York State Thruway, police said.

Ali fled on foot and was captured by a trail camera in Highland Mills, a hamlet in Orange County, state police said in a news release.

State police found Ali in a densely wooded area, police said. A struggle ensued and at least one officer fired a shot that struck and killed Ali, state police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
