With “The Superduper Show”, ProSieben presented a new type of game show. However, the format with the Kaulitz twins was a flop at its premiere.

Munich – Recently, it quickly seemed as if everything Bill and Tom Kaulitz (both 34) touched turned to gold. As coaches on “The Voice of Germany”, the Tokio Hotel twins provided the winner of the casting show last season and thrilled music fans and TV critics alike with their Netflix documentary “Kaulitz and Kaulitz”. However, the crash landing of “The Superduper Show” now seems to have ended their lucky streak.

“The Superduper Show” with the Kaulitz twins attracted only a few viewers

In principle, “The Superduper Show” could have been a real success for the responsible broadcaster ProSieben. In addition to Bill and Tom Kaulitz, presenter Katrin Bauerfeind (42) also invited actress Annette Frier (50), “Tatort” actor Edin Hasanovic (32) and comedian Wigald Boning (57). The celebrity candidates had to put together their own show in no time, with the premise provided by creative children.

The whole thing actually sounded like a new recipe for success for an entertaining game show, but apparently the investment is not worth it for ProSieben for the time being. For the opening episode on Tuesday (September 17), “DWDL” reports attracted just under half a million viewers, which corresponds to a weak market share of 5.7 percent in the advertising-relevant target group of 14 to 49-year-olds. However, the broadcaster will not be giving up the format completely just yet.

Maybe “The Superduper Show” still has a future

Although four episodes were originally planned and the second episode was already scheduled for next Tuesday, the ProSieben officials changed their minds at short notice due to the poor performance of the show. Spokesman Christoph Körfer (57) told “DWDL”: “'The Superduper Show' unfortunately did not find its audience on Tuesday evening.” That is why we are taking the show off the program.”

However, Körfer goes on to explain that ProSieben still stands behind the concept of the format and may therefore want to broadcast “The Superduper Show” again in a revised version in 2025. “However, we still believe in the show's potential and will bring it back to a time slot in 2025 that will make it easier for families to watch the show,” he announced in his statement.

Speaking of which: TV viewers will not miss the show. However, the concept of the “Superduper Show” was strongly rejected by some viewers. Sources used: ProSieben, t-online, DWDL
