SAPS declares DJ Sumbody case unsolved

Two years after the tragic death of hitmaker DJ Sumbody (born Oupa John Sefoka), the investigation into his murder has been classified as stalled; a decision that follows a lack of progress in the case.

DJ Sumbody, known for hits like Months Mpolayewas allegedly killed in a hail of bullets in Johannesburg, an attack that shook the South African entertainment industry to its core. Yet two years later, his killers are still at large and the case remains unsolved.

Accordingly ZimojaSources within the police confirmed that the case had been annulled due to a lack of progress. “The case has been annulled, which means it has been classified as unsolved. This also means that the case will not be investigated further until new evidence comes to light,” the source said.

This development comes after Gauteng Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni announced that the killers of DJ Sumbody and his friend are still at large. However, Tommy mentioned that there are ongoing efforts to solve both cases and the police are following up on leads, as reported by The South African.

Even though the investigation has stalled, DJ Sumbody's family is determined to honor his legacy. According to the publication FakazaNewsThe family plans to mark Heritage Month with a charity event to keep his memory alive. They hope to give back to the underprivileged community of Eyabantu Educare, which is home to over 200 children, by donating more than R100,000.
