Accident with tram in Nuremberg: Two people injured

When turning left, a driver fails to see a tram travelling in the same direction. He crashes.

According to the Central Franconia Police Headquarters, a traffic accident occurred in southern Nuremberg on Thursday afternoon (September 19, 2024) between a car and a tram. Two passengers suffered minor injuries.

At around 3:50 p.m., a driver was driving his car along Gibitzenhofstrasse in the direction of Dianastrasse. At the junction with Pfälzerstrasse, the driver wanted to turn left, but failed to see the tram travelling in the same direction.

Two tram passengers injured: emergency services in action

The tram driver applied emergency brakes but was unable to avoid a collision. A passenger then fell and sustained minor injuries. Another tram passenger was also slightly injured and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the car was uninjured. The collision caused total damage of around 3,000 euros. Officers from the Nuremberg traffic police are on site to record the accident.
