The fight was not initially for the title, but according to The Telegraph, undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk vacated his IBF title in July, just weeks after his victory over Tyson Fury.

Usyk gave up the championship because the time frame set for him to defend his title could not be met due to his rematch against the Gypsy King in Saudi Arabia in December.

Adesanya bets on Joshua vs Dubois

UFC fighter Israel Adesanya has shown interest in the fight and publicly announced on his Instagram page that he has placed a $10,000 bet on his prediction of the fight.

Adesanya hoped for the victory of his compatriot Joshua between the 10th and 12th rounds.

He shared a photo of himself and Joshua and a screenshot of his mission as his captain calls upon a Yoruba deity, Ògún, the god of iron, to settle the dispute in battle.

The two athletes are of Nigerian descent and come from the Yoruba tribe in the southwestern United States, although they grew up abroad and made a name for themselves there.

Adesanya was recently in Nigeria, days after losing his middleweight title fight at UFC 305 to South African fighter Dricus Du Plessis.
