Odisha Army officer's girlfriend sexually assaulted at Bharatpur police station

Shocking details have come to light about the Torture to which an army officer and his fiancée were subjectedwho was allegedly sexually assaulted at Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar. The incident occurred when they went to file a complaint against miscreants who had attacked them on their way home in Bhubaneswar on September 14.

The woman, who was also arrested by the police, was granted bail by the Odisha High Court on Thursday considering the seriousness of the charges. As the incident sparked nationwide outrage, the Odisha Police suspended five officers, including the inspector-in-charge of Bharatpur police station.

Here is a timeline of events:

September 14: Midnight

A peaceful evening turned into a nightmare for an army officer and his fiancée on their way home in Bhubaneswar. The couple were suddenly chased by a group of unknown thugs. Fearing for their safety, they ran to the nearest police station.

September 15: 1 a.m.

Breathless and frightened, the couple went to the police station to file a report, but little did they know that the worst was yet to come.

15 September: Between 1.30 and 3 a.m.

In a horrific turn of events, the couple claimed to have been brutally attacked by the police officers, with the woman claiming she was stripped, sexually assaulted and physically tortured.

She said her legs were tied with a scarf and her hands were tied with her own jacket. She was then dragged through the corridors by her hair. In a desperate attempt to defend herself, the woman reportedly bit one of the officers. She was then arrested by police officers.

In the meantime, the army officer was put in a dungeon where he was helpless and unable to intervene.

16 September

After learning about the incident, the army raised the alarm with the Odisha state government.

17 September

In response to growing pressure and outrage, the government transferred the case to the Crime Investigation Department (CID). A high-level investigation was ordered, which acknowledged the seriousness of the attack and police misconduct.

18 September

As the investigation gained momentum, five police officers involved in the attack were transferred and subsequently suspended. The Odisha High Court also granted bail to the woman who was wrongly accused and arrested by the police.

19 September

The woman, who is still recovering from her physical injuries and emotional trauma, was eventually released from custody. After her release, she described her horrific ordeal to the media. She suffered multiple injuries, including a dislocated jaw.

20 September

An FIR was officially filed against the five police officers after the army officer filed a formal complaint.
