ANC Sedibeng mourns Maditsi

VEREENIGING. – African National Congress (ANC) Ward 15, Pixley ka Seme branch in Vereeniging, is in mourning.

The party woke up on Thursday morning to the tragic news of the death of ANC branch deputy chairperson, who also previously served as chairperson of the ANC Youth League (ANCYL): Victor Maditsi, affectionately known as Mokone.

The branch's media liaison officer, Harry Maleka, said a spear had fallen.

“Today we woke up to the tragic news that the spear has fallen in our branch. It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of former ANCYL branch chairman, Comrade Victor Maditsi, affectionately known as Mokone in ANC political circles in the Sedibeng region,” Maleka said.

Maleka said Maditsi, 39, was shot dead in the early hours of the morning at a gate where he was staying. Further details about his death were not available at the time of going to press.

“We lower our revolutionary banners to pay tribute to him, an activist who fought for a greater life and grew up in the ranks of the ANC. We have already spoken to his family and will communicate further arrangements to them in accordance with their wishes,” Maleka said.
