Chareideo BJP leader found dead, suspected suicide

Guwahati: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician in Sonari in Charaideo, Assam, allegedly committed suicide on Friday.

According to reports, the deceased was identified as Debajit Hazarika.

He is said to have taken this extreme step after his family believed some news reports to be false and misleading.

Hazarika left a suicide note in which he accused a journalist of supporting him when he decided to take the step of ending his life.

In the note, he claimed that the journalist had psychologically harassed him.

He was accused of being involved in financial anomalies.

His wife, Mousumi Hazarika, told the media that, contrary to what some claim, her husband had never been involved in any fraud.

She claimed that Debajit Hazarika was the victim of a conspiracy.

She also said that the man was a full-time social worker and it was impossible that he was involved in fraud.

While initial reports suggest that Debajit Hazarika committed suicide, his wife suspects that the incident could be murder and is demanding an investigation into the incident.

His body was found near a panchayat office in Sonari.

According to sources, the suicide note contained the names of four people.
