Lennox Lewis makes big prediction for Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois: “He will knock him out”

Lennox Lewis believes someone will be knocked out when Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois meet on his weekend.

This is a relatively safe bet as both men have proven to be powerful punchers.

Joshua has fought a total of 29 fights, winning 26 and 23 by stoppage, giving him a knockout rate of 88.5%, with two point losses and only one technical stoppage at the hands of Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019.

Dubois won 18 of his 19 victories by knockout and lost only twice, both times by stoppage after he fell to his knees and was unable to get up, causing some to doubt his staying power.

However, in his last two fights against top-class challengers such as Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic, he withstood a lot of initial pressure and took a lot of fire, but was still able to prevail and take the win.

Now the two will face off in front of a record crowd of 96,000 at London's Wembley Stadium. This fight will see Dubois defend his IBF world title for the first time and AJ have the chance to become a three-time world champion.

Lewis previously gave his prediction to Ring TV and believes that now could be the right time for Dubois to shine.

“Dubois is the guy that nobody has paid attention to for a while and he wants his fame. I think he sees Anthony as the golden boy in the sense that everyone admires him, he has the fans, the big promoter and he's in the spotlight because that's how it was, but now his time has come. He's sat back and now he's got a chance, now let's see if he can do it.”

He then admitted that “AJ” has more experience overall, even though Dubois has performed well in his last two appearances.

“He has fought Oleksandr Usyk twice, he has boxed in America, in big stadiums and has top-class trainers. I think it can go both ways because both have good chances. Anthony has the advantage. Daniel has been there in the background, he wants it, he has dreamed of it his whole life. If he tries, it will work. As far as experience goes, [Dubois] has gained a lot of experience in his last fights.”

Finally, he made a clear prediction – a KO for Joshua.

“Joshua by stoppage. I don't think it's going to be an early fight, I think it's probably going to be in the later rounds. Daniel isn't going to come in and lay down.”

Whoever wins could well go into an undisputed fight with the winner of the rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in December.
