Selenskyj: Ukrainian military reduces Russian attack potential on the Eastern Front

KIEV: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday (September 19) that Ukrainian forces had reduced the threat of attack by Russian troops in the Donetsk region on the eastern front of the war that has been going on for more than two and a half years.

In his evening video address after consultation with the commanders, Zelensky said the military was doing its utmost “for the resilience of our combat brigades”.

“Currently, the Ukrainian armed forces have managed to reduce the attack potential of the occupiers in the Donetsk region,” he said.

The situation remains “critically difficult, with heavy fighting every day” in the two sectors of the Eastern Front that are exposed to the strongest Russian attacks – near the cities of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove.
