What does traffic sign 269 mean?

In short, you may know the sign as “water protection area”. Basically, there is a simple guideline: If a traffic sign has a red border, something is prohibited. In this case, you are not allowed to drive your vehicle any further if you have loaded the next substances:

• Acids and alkalis
• halogen
• Lead salts
• Alkali metals
• Mineral oils

If you come across this sign and have loaded your vehicle accordingly, stop and turn around. You are absolutely prohibited from continuing your journey in areas marked accordingly. Incidentally, this rule only applies if you have more than 20 liters of cargo in your vehicle.
