Man confesses to sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in south Miami-Dade

MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – A 21-year-old man recently confessed to sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in Everglades Village, an agricultural neighborhood in deep south Miami-Dade County.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department arrest report, the girl, now a teenager, spoke to a detective from the Special Victims Unit in Doral on September 7.

According to police, the teen said Palemon Hernandez sexually assaulted her three times. Detectives reported recording Hernandez's confession on September 10.

Police officers arrested Hernandez and corrections officials released him on $7,500 bail Tuesday. He faces a charge of lewd and lascivious molestation of a 12-year-old victim.

Court records show that Miami-Dade County District Judge Milton Hirsch presided over the case and that Hernandez's arraignment was scheduled for 9 a.m. on Oct. 10.
