A new comedy show is about to start on ARD. A similar one was canceled after a short time. This is what viewers have to expect.

Dortmund – TV channels like ARD change their programming every now and then. When free slots are created by cancelling or pausing established shows, it's time for a new format. ARD has now announced a new show that will be broadcast on Friday evenings in the future. Previously, there was a similar format on this slot that flopped.

In May, ARD already had a new comedy series. Now there is another new addition: The new show is called “Smeilingen – A Village Like You and Me”, and it is supposed to be a sketch comedy series, according to ARD in a press release. A number of actors, comedians and presenters are to take part, taking on the roles of various villagers.

Some participants in the new show have already been confirmed. According to the press release, the cast looks like this so far:

ARD is adding a new show to its schedule – this is what will happen in the show

Otto Steiner, managing director and producer of Constantin Entertainment, says of the series in the press release: “'Smeilingen' is a symbiosis of sketch comedy and comedy series in a fictional village whose strange and eccentric inhabitants are led by a very unusual cast of stars for this genre.”

In the village of “Smeilingen”, various figures and characters are supposed to meet one another – from a disrespectful undertaker to a newly arrived influencer couple to a choleric football coach, everything is supposed to be represented here. A lot of humor is also promised (more TV news on RUHR24).

ARD adds new show to its schedule – this flop show filled the slot

“Smeilingen – A Village Like You and Me” will be broadcast on ARD on Fridays at 9:45 p.m. from November 1, 2024. Initially, six episodes will be released, each 30 minutes long. Those interested can access them in the ARD media library from October 31, 2024.

Last year, a comedy format was broadcast on exactly this time slot. However, “Comedy Saves the World” was canceled after a short time due to weak quotes. It remains to be seen whether the new comedy series will attract more viewers.

“Smeilingen” is not the only comedy show that finds a place on ARD. Carolin Kebekus returns from her maternity leave and resumes her show with a few changes.
