Pipeline fire in Houston area is now under criminal investigation; police say human remains have been found

LA PORTE, Texas (KWTX) – Deer Park police said the incident in which a vehicle crashed into a natural gas pipeline in La Porte, Texas, igniting a huge fireball, is now under criminal investigation.

On September 19, at around 7:00 a.m., police managed to reach the scene of the fire and recover the car that had crashed into the pipeline.

During the examination of the vehicle, forensic scientists were able to recover and remove human remains from the interior of the vehicle.

Police said they are currently beginning the process of identifying the remains, which will take some time.

Deer Park police said the case has become a criminal investigation and will continue until more information is available.
