India vs Bangladesh: Will Chennai weather spoil the match? Check the rain forecast and IMD prediction for today's cricket match

India vs Bangladesh 1st Test: The Indian national team returned to Test action today after a long break. The first match of a two-match series against Bangladesh is scheduled for September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, weather forecasts suggest that rain threatens to spoil the show.

According to weather forecasts, rain showers on September 19 can play a crucial role on the opening day of play and mar the proceedings of the first Test series under new head coach Gautam Gambhir. AccuWeather reported a 25% chance of rainfall during the morning session of the first day. To the concern of cricket fans, this figure will rise to 46% in the afternoon.

Downpours are likely around 2pm today, potentially delaying the start of the third session after disrupting the second. Interruptions due to rain are likely, while a complete downpour seems unlikely. Meanwhile, expectations are high for the home team, but at the same time, weather conditions could be a spoilsport.

According to the local weather report of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature is expected to be around 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 28 degrees Celsius. “Generally cloudy skies with light rain,” says the latest weather bulletin of the IMD, predicting possible cloudy conditions throughout the day. Humidity was recorded at 58% in the city at 5:30 pm on September 18.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in the capital of Tamil Nadu has issued a yellow alert warning of rain and thunderstorms in Chennai and surrounding districts.

India vs Bangladesh, 1st Test Day 2

AccuWeather is forecasting a 51% chance of rain for the afternoon of day two, with a slight chance of thunderstorms during the day. But like day one, the rest of day two may see clear skies. In addition, days 3, 4, and 5 of the test series may see clear conditions, as the chance of rain is below 30% on each of the days.
