Wiltshire teenager sentenced after knife attack on 16-year-old

DC Chris Hemns said: “There must be no place for such incidents in Wiltshire.

“The impact of knife crime on our communities cannot be underestimated and it is a priority for the force to target those who carry knives.”

“Even one incident involving a knife is too many and I would ask anyone who feels the need to carry a knife, whether for self-interest or for their own protection, to think again. The consequences of doing so can be lifelong.

“We continue to do a lot of work on the streets and together with our partners to get to the bottom of knife crime.

“However, it is not a problem that can be solved by the police alone. It requires a long-term, collaborative approach between the police, our partners and parents to educate young people about the risks of carrying knives.”
