Tragic death of RAS officer Priyanka Bishnois: Allegations of medical negligence emerge

The tragic death of RAS officer Priyanka Bishnoi has sent shockwaves across Rajasthan, with doctors involved in her treatment being accused of medical negligence. She was serving as Deputy Collector of Taxes in Jodhpur. What happened to Priyanka Bishnoi?

According to the report by NDTV Rajasthan, “Doctors at Vasundhara Hospital in Jodhpur have been accused of negligence in treating Priyanka Bishnois and the case is currently being investigated as per the Collector of Revenue's instructions. During treatment in Jodhpur, Priyanka's condition continued to deteriorate, prompting her family to shift her to Ahmedabad for further treatment, where she tragically passed away on Wednesday evening, September 18, 2024.”
She died on Wednesday at CIMS Hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, two weeks after an allegedly botched gastric surgery at Vasundhara Hospital in Jodhpur.

The family of RAS officer Priyanka Bishnoi has accused a private hospital of medical negligence that led to her death.
According to a report by NDTV Rajasthan, “Priyanka Bishnoi's family claimed that Priyanka was given excessive anesthesia during the surgery. After that, Priyanka slipped into a coma. Later, Priyanka Bishnoi suffered brain death. Also, many organs of her body stopped functioning.” After the surgery, her health deteriorated.

She died on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at CIMS Hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, two weeks after an alleged botched gastric surgery at Vasundhara Hospital in Jodhpur. Her family claimed that her condition deteriorated immediately after the surgery and she was unable to recover.

Family demands strict measures

Priyanka Bishnoi's father-in-law, Sahiram Bishnoi, told Etv Bharat, “We lost her due to the negligence of doctors at Vasundhara Hospital.” He demanded strict action against the doctors responsible for the alleged negligence.
According to Etv Bharat report, “Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed grief over Priyanka's death and ordered an inquiry into the incident. Subsequently, District Collector Gaurav Agarwal formed a five-member inquiry committee of SN Medical College, which is expected to submit its report within three days.”
