Two dead and seven injured in shooting in downtown Moscow

Following the shooting at the office of the online retailer Wildberries in central Moscow, the Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings on five counts of the Russian Criminal Code.

Two people were killed and seven others, including two police officers, were injured, the press office of the Moscow branch of the Investigative Committee told TASS.

“The investigative bodies of the Russian Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case under Article 105 Part 1 of the Russian Criminal Code (murder), Article 105 Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempted murder of two or more persons), Article 222 of the Russian Criminal Code (illegal possession of weapons), Article 317 of the Russian Criminal Code (assault on a police officer) and Article 330 Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code (arbitrariness),” the press office said.

The Investigative Committee added that a shooting occurred on September 18 at the office of the Wildberries company in central Moscow.

Seven people were injured, including two police officers who were on the scene to stop the crime.

“Two people succumbed to their injuries,” the press office said.

The injured were taken to hospital.

Detectives and forensic experts are on site to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.

They interview witnesses and study video surveillance recordings.
