One arrested, two wanted in connection with the murder of a 12-year-old girl on Cypress Street

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – Alexandria Police reported that a suspect was arrested in connection with a murder on Cypress Street. The murder occurred on September 14 and claimed the life of a 12-year-old girl in Alexandria.

According to APD, 38-year-old Kayla Wooten has been charged with both first-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

The APD also asked the public for help in locating two other suspects in the murder case.

They are looking for Latraykus May, 32, and Deroyce May II, 31.

Latraykus May was described as being approximately 5'7″ tall and weighing approximately 165 pounds. Deroyce May II was described as being approximately 5'5″ tall and weighing approximately 120 pounds. According to APD, both men are considered armed and dangerous.

APD reported that a 12-year-old girl died in a shooting in the 2900 block of Cypress Street.

APD said they arrived at the scene of a shooting around 8:45 a.m. on September 14. They found a 12-year-old girl dead from a gunshot wound.

Another person with a gunshot wound was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
