Interior Minister Léon Gloden: Police location for everyone

Since he took office ten months ago, Luxembourg has become safer, explained Interior Minister Léon Gloden (CSV) on Thursday morning on Radio 100.7. That is the feedback he is receiving. Aggressive begging is no longer a problem, and people are telling him that they are now more interested in going into the city again.

In addition, there is a growing demand from municipalities for their own police units, which, as Gloden stresses, would not incur any additional costs for the municipalities. “Municipalities that want this and where the security situation requires it will receive it,” says the Interior Minister. However, the pilot projects in Esch and Luxembourg City will remain in place until the end of the year.

With regard to the German border controls, Gloden stressed in the interview as “Invité vum Dag” that it is important for Luxembourg to maintain open borders. He also warns against linking crime and migration, as is currently happening in German domestic politics. If the controls lead to traffic jams in Luxembourg, he will intervene.
