An eight-year-old boy has died after falling from the window of a house in Nottingham, police said.

Officers were called to Costock Avenue in the Sherwood area by the East Midlands Ambulance Service at around 7.15pm on Wednesday, Nottinghamshire Police said.

The boy was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in the city but could not be saved.

Officers remain in the house and investigate the circumstances of the fall.

Chief Inspector Jon Scurr said the boy's death was “a tragic and devastating loss of life”.

“Our thoughts are with the boy’s family and loved ones,” he said.

“I would like to thank those who have already reported information to us and would ask anyone who has not yet done so to contact us as soon as possible.

“We are very aware that incidents of this nature are incredibly stressful for everyone involved and affect the entire community.”
