North College Hill and Summit Country Day agree to change the date for the home game

NORTH COLLEGE HILL, Ohio – North College Hill’s home game against Summit Country Day School has been rescheduled to a different date and time.

In a press release, both schools said they had mutually agreed to play their varsity football game on Saturday, October 12 at 11 a.m. at North College Hill Stadium rather than Friday, October 11 as originally planned.

The North College Hill athletic department said the school is hosting a college-style homecoming weekend with a game and dance on the same day.

“With kickoff at 11 a.m., North College Hill students and student-athletes can enjoy the Homecoming game, Homecoming community festivities and the actual Homecoming dance later that evening – all on the same day,” the press release said.

That decision came nearly two weeks after gunfire near the stadium interrupted North College Hill's game against Cincinnati Country Day on Sept. 6. North College Hill was unable to play the following week because their next opponent, Miami Valley Christian Academy, announced they would not travel there.

In a joint statement following the incident, North College Hill City Schools and the North College Hill Police Department said the athletic department has taken appropriate precautions and procedures to ensure the safety of all attendees of its sporting events.

Policies include, but are not limited to, an administrator at each entrance to the stadium, students in grades K-8 must enter the game accompanied by their parents, no bags allowed (if a bag is required, it will be thoroughly checked), no re-entry into games, and escorting the visiting team by police/administrators.

Officials said the Sept. 6 shooting was not directed at school grounds or the stadium. Police believe someone fired near an apartment complex across the street on Bising Avenue.
