Stefan Raab is back. The new show “Du gewinnst hier nicht die Milllion bei Stefan Raab” started on RTL+ on Wednesday evening. The show is a mixture of “TV Total” and “Schlag den Raab”. From the cuts to the sound effects to the studio band, the “Heavytones”, a lot of things feel very familiar. It is broadcast at the same time as the new show “TV Total” with Sebastian Pufpaff. Raab's successor naturally did not miss the opportunity to at least make allusions to the boxing match at the weekend and imitate the 57-year-old during his appearance at the beginning of the show. “You won’t win the million here”: Raab curses after the end of the recording – “I’m really angry”

4.29 am: Raab's doggedness is legendary. He proved this in the first edition of the new show. But after the end of the show, his anger over the lost game had evidently not subsided. The Cologne newspaper “Express” reported that the 57-year-old was still cursing minutes after the end of the recording because he had the feeling that Elton had misled him. “I'm really angry,” Raab said. This is precisely the ambition that Raab fans prefer.

21.40: And that's it. No more overtime like before. Sören can continue in the next show. After almost exactly 90 minutes, the first edition of “Du gewinnst hier nicht die Million” is over. We liked “TV Total” and “Schlag den Raab”, so this show could be something for them. The new format brings back the old core elements, but is a bit more relaxed than the former marathon battles on Saturday evenings. What is noticeable: Raab seems to really enjoy being back. At the end of his “TV Total” era, you didn't always get the impression that the entertainer was still fully into it. Now we know: Raab is keen on television again, just like he used to do.

Raab spirals towards defeat

21:38: The panting Raab feels under pressure and buzzes – too early. Not all the screws were tightened. Sören wins the game. Raab starts to complain. “I lost because you gave me the wrong information about the status of the game,” he complained to Elton. Everything was the same as before.

Raab completely perplexed – “What? “That can’t be true”

21:34: Clever, the candidate chooses a completely different strategy to Raab. First he loosens all the screws while the car is still in contact with the ground, then he lifts the car, takes the tires off and puts the new ones on. When Elton announces that his opponent is already on the last tire, Raab is baffled: “What? That can't be possible.”

21:18: At the beginning of “DGHNDMBSR”, Raab performed his surprise hit “Pa aufs Maul”. Pufpaff will apparently follow suit musically. Unlike an opponent, he quickly gets the hang of how to throw so that the ball stays in place. And Raab's ambition is always palpable. Every ball thrown away is accompanied by a “NOOOOO” and other curses. The lost game means: Oliver is now out and a new candidate gets his chance.

21:08: Raab also seems to have reactivated his old game inventor from the “Beat the Raab” days. The next game is about throwing a tennis ball at an office chair so that it stays there. Beautiful, simple, absurd.

21:02: Elton as Raab's sidekick on RTL – the “new” Elton on TV Total: Simon Gosejohann appears in a bathrobe, advertises diving – Pufpaff and he form a team in synchronized diving, like Raab and Elton once did

Oliver wins first game against Raab

20:58: We come to the “Beat Raab” part of the show. Raab goes from being the presenter to being the opponent. The first game, “Chain Link Fence”, is presented by Elton. Oliver manages to cut his way through the fences to freedom more quickly and climbs to the first prize level. He is guaranteed 1,000 euros.

“TV Total” presenter makes fun of Raab

20:51: We switched over to ProSieben at some point. At the start of “TV Total”, Sebastian Pufpaff made fun of Raab. A viewer dressed as a referee announced the presenter at the start of the show. “Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages, welcome to 'TV total'. We've been away for seven days. We haven't seen him for seven days. Nobody knows if he's really coming. And if he does come, what will he look like? Here is – but only maybe – Sebastian Pufpaff.” Then Pufpaff comes and poses like Raab in a muscle-building pose. While he runs down the stairs, employees successfully hold up a table firework. The weekly pyrotechnics budget is more manageable than at the mega event in Düsseldorf.

“TV Total” without Raab makes fun of Raab, who also somehow presents “TV Total” at the same time, but has a different name. It’s all so confusing.

Oliver is the first candidate

8.45 p.m.: And now a touch of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”: The potential candidates sit at the edge of the stage. Whoever buzzes a quiz question the fastest and has the right answer competes against Raab in a battle for one million euros. Oliver gets it. He is the first candidate. And now for the rules, we are excited.

20:38: Raab reveals how he is restructuring the station as the “new RTL boss”. “The first thing I'm going to do is take away Dieter Bohlen's soft focus,” the 57-year-old sends poisoned greetings to his new colleague. That would save a few million.
