Jordan Love returns to Packers practice for the first time since his knee injury ahead of Week 3's game against the Titans

Packers quarterback Jordan Love participated in practice on Wednesday for the first time since suffering a strained medial ligament in the Green Bay Packers' opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

His status for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans is still unclear, but his return is a positive sign after an injury that was initially expected to keep him out of action for several weeks.

Love was seen during practice Wednesday performing non-contact drills with defenders and receivers while wearing a brace on his injured left knee.

Head coach Matt LaFleur said after practice that Love was “limited.”

“It's always great to have your quarterback out there, but we'll see how he develops throughout the week,” LaFleur said.

Love told reporters that he and Green Bay's training staff would review his status “day by day.”

Love sustained the injury on Green Bay's final possession against the Eagles in a game played in Brazil on Sept. 6. Backup quarterback Malik Willis replaced him for the final two plays of the game and then started last week's 16-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Love's return timeline was initially listed as 3-6 weeks. LaFleur declined to rule Love out early last week before Sunday's Colts game. The Packers ultimately downgraded Love's status to questionable on Saturday before the game after he had not practiced all week and allowed Willis to start against the Colts.

Love's return to practice on Wednesday appears to put him ahead of the 3-6 week mark — or at least on the short end of that. A return on Sunday against the Titans would make it two weeks since his injury.

Love is coming off his first season as the Green Bay Packers' starting quarterback and showed significant improvement towards the end of the season, raising hopes of a breakout season in 2024. He signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension in the offseason. The Packers are off to a 1-1 start after a loss to the Eagles and a win against the Colts.
