Marlboro man convicted of sexually and physically abusing his daughter

FREEHOLD – A Marlboro man has been convicted of sexually and physically abusing his own daughter over a period of more than six years, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said Wednesday.

Andrey V. Penkin, 51, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree aggravated sexual assault and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Santiago said.

An investigation by the district attorney's office and Marlboro Township police found that Penkin began abusing his daughter in 2016 when the family lived in Sayreville, Santiago said. Numerous incidents of sexual abuse followed, both in Sayreville and at their next two residences in East Brunswick and Marlboro.

In early 2023, after discovering she had a friend's pack of cigarettes, Penkin physically assaulted his daughter, causing a severe concussion and related facial injuries, according to prosecutors. Penkin was arrested in April 2023.

At trial, the state presented medical records, witness testimony and evidence, including the victim's diary, to prove its charges, Santiago said. The jury deliberated for 80 minutes before returning guilty verdicts.

Penkin will face a minimum sentence of 25 years in state prison without eligibility for parole under the terms of New Jersey's Jessica Lunsford Act, the prosecutor said. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
