27-year-old man arrested for illegal possession and trafficking of weapons

Hartford, CT (WFSB) – A 27-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for possession of several illegal firearms.

The Hartford Police Community Crime Suppression Team, with assistance from the Hartford Police Emergency Response Team, executed a search and seizure warrant at 471 Maple Avenue.

The investigation revealed that the suspect was in possession of several firearms and was involved in illegal arms trafficking.

Items seized included an AR-15 assault rifle, a Glock 26 with 15 rounds, a Harrington and Richardson pistol, a Taurus G3 9mm with laser sight and 14 rounds, and a .300 AAC “Ghost Gun.” Authorities also seized 280 .223 caliber rounds, 114 5.56 caliber rounds, an AR-15 drum magazine with 52 .223 caliber rounds, an M16 speed loader, multiple magazines and extended magazines, 285 9mm rounds, 2 spent cartridge cases, 222 live rifle rounds, a 30-round magazine with 24 rounds, 45 .357 caliber rounds, and 1.5 pounds of marijuana.

Angel Fortis-Galarza of Hartford was charged with possession of an assault weapon, possession of a ghost gun, possession of high capacity magazines, illegal transfer of pistols and possession of a controlled substance.

He was taken to the Hartford Police Detention Division for processing
