Melania Trump defends her nude photos as a model

Former First Lady Melania Trump defended her work as a nude model as part of her recent promotional campaign for her upcoming memoir.

The 54-year-old former model spoke about her career so far on Instagram on Wednesday.

“Why am I so proud of my work as a nude model?” asked the mother of one of the children off-screen.

“The more pressing question is: Why did the media choose to scrutinize my glorification of the human form in a fashion photo shoot?” she said.

“Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body?”

Trump's voiceover was heard alongside images of famous works of art featuring nude figures, including Michelangelo's “David,” Paul Cézanne's “Bathers” and John Collier's “Lady Godiva.”

“Throughout history, master artists have revered the human form, evoking deep emotion and admiration. We should honor our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self-expression,” she argued.

The video was the fourth clip from an otherwise rather taciturn video from Trump, who is currently busy promoting her memoir of the same name before it hits shelves on October 1.

In an earlier video, Trump questioned the possible role of law enforcement in the July 13 assassination attempt on her husband, Donald Trump.

In a subsequent post, she shared a sweet throwback photo with her son Barron, now 18, and talked about the rewards of parenthood.

Trump was born in Slovenia in 1970 and became a model as an adult.

In 1995, she posed nude for a French erotic magazine and again in 2000 in Donald Trump's private jet for British GQ.

At the time of the GQ shoot, she had been dating the real estate mogul for about two years. They married in 2005.

The photos – none of which showed full nudity – resurfaced in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

Photographer Antoine Verglas told ABC News at the time that the future First Lady insisted on not appearing “completely naked” during the daring photo session.

“Melania was a very private person. She was definitely not someone you saw in nightclubs or going out,” he said.

“Pretty down to earth, very nice, very warm.”
