Murder investigation underway after man killed in shooting and car set on fire

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was killed in a shooting and a car was set on fire in neighboring Hertfordshire villages.

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was killed in a shooting in Hertfordshire.

Police were called to reports of a shooting in Railway Terrace, Kings Langley, at 12.30am on Tuesday.

A man in his thirties was found with serious injuries and died shortly afterwards.

Officials believe there is a connection between the incidents, but there is no major danger to the public.

Fifteen minutes later, a burning Volkswagen Golf was found in Abbots Langley.

No arrests have been made yet, but investigations are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardner, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Crime Unit, said: “This is a tragic loss of life and our thoughts are with the victim's family at this time.”

“As part of our investigation, we are appealing for witness statements as well as any CCTV, dashboard or doorbell footage from Railway Terrace and surrounding areas at the time of the incident.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police as soon as possible.

“In addition, if you were in the Kings Langley and/or Abbots Langley area at around 12.30am and noticed anything suspicious, please come forward.

“Anyone with any information is asked to report online at herts.police.uk/report or call the non-emergency number 101 quoting ISR 16 of 17 September or Operation Tempo. Alternatively they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via an untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
