Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Peterson hopes for a faster start on Monday night

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be on the road once again to start the year. After a rocky 0-2 start to the season, they head to Highmark Stadium in Week 3 to face a red-hot Buffalo Bills team on Monday Night Football.

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson knows what atmosphere a standalone prime-time game creates and what motivation it will give his guys throughout the rest of the week.

“Oh, they're definitely getting up for Monday night. You're prime time, you're the only game on [TV] around the league and everyone is watching. It's a great opportunity for us to go on the road and play against a good Bills football team,” Pederson said Monday. “They've got some rest now with their Thursday night game against Miami. Yeah, it's definitely a great opportunity for our guys to get motivated and excited for the game.”

The Bills crushed the Miami Dolphins 31-10 last Thursday night and began the season with a promising 2-0 start. Two games into the season, the Jaguars team looks completely different.

After a tough final six quarters on both sides of the ball, Pederson is aware of a key factor this week that could make the difference as the Jaguars look to change their identity and earn a decisive road win.

“You definitely want them to start the game faster, start the second half faster and not wait two and a half quarters to really get going,” Pederson said. “That's another thing we need to focus on and talk about, really internally, and see what we can do to get the team going and motivated.”

The Jaguars' schedule isn't playing into their hands, as four of their first six games are on the road and they also have the eighth-toughest schedule in the league according to the NFL. There will be season-defining moments for this team in the coming weeks.

Buffalo is looking to remain undefeated and the Jaguars are looking for their first win of the year. After a slower start to the season, Pederson is looking to be the spoiler on Monday night in Buffalo with a group he believes should be motivated and ready to get off to a faster, more explosive start.
