Future Fund announces it voted against Woodside's climate strategy

The country's sovereign wealth fund has revealed it was among the heavyweight investors who voted against Woodside Energy's controversial climate strategy earlier this year amid growing activism among major ASX-listed companies.

The Future Fund revealed in its proxy statement, which will be published on Thursday, that it had voted against the oil and gas giant's climate strategy. Almost 60 percent of registered members voted against the strategy in April, a resounding rebuff for Woodside chairman Richard Goyder and chief executive Meg O'Neill, who had tried to convince investors that the company was on a credible path to reducing its emissions.
