45-year-old man allegedly sexually assaulted 14-year-old girl when she was 8 years old | Guam News

A man was accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl over several years.

On September 6, Guam International Airport Authority police officers responded to a sexual assault report filed at a local high school. According to a complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam, a 14-year-old girl accused 45-year-old Eric Matthew Cruz of sexually assaulting her between the ages of 8 and 11.

The first incident occurred when the victim was 8 years old and was sleeping in the same bed as Cruz and another family member in a Harmon family home.

“The defendant reached over, put his hand into the victim's panties and touched her vagina. The victim stated this happened frequently until she was 11 years old,” the judge's complaint states.

Cruz was charged with second-degree sexual abuse as a first-degree felony and faces up to 20 years in prison.

On Tuesday, Cruz was released on $10,000 bail by Judge Benjamin Sison Jr. at his first court appearance.
