Dead by Daylight spin-off was surprisingly canceled

Behavior Interactive, the studio behind the successful horror multiplayer game Dead by daylighthas surprisingly announced the cancellation of its planned spin-offs Project T The announcement comes just months after the game was unveiled in May as a 1-4 player co-op PvE shooter that would see players take on the roles of the Trespassers, a savage group of characters trapped in an unexplored part of the Entity's realm called The Backwater.

Project T Behavior Interactive is currently in early development at Midwinter Entertainment, a studio acquired by Behavior Interactive in 2022. Initial feedback on Project T was inadequate

In a statement on X, Behavior Interactive commented on the reasons for discontinuing Project T. A central aspect of the development process was the so-called Insider Program, which was created to involve players in the game's development as early as possible. This program allows the developers to receive valuable feedback on the game's core design and gameplay that is usually only collected in later stages of game development.

In July, an important playtest took place, on the basis of which a well-known risk assessment was carried out. This included both product aspects and the commercial success prospects of Project T Analyzed. Despite the positive feedback from some players, the analysis showed overall unsatisfactory results.

Behavior Interactive further stated that the decision Project T was not an easy decision. However, they have become unavoidable following a thorough assessment of future opportunities and risks. “It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that Project T has been cancelled. “We would like to thank you for your support throughout this journey,” the statement said.

The setting of Project T is a setback for the developers, who had high hopes for the project. However, it also shows how important it is for studios to remain flexible in the early stages of development and to respond to community feedback and internal analysis. Behavior Interactive remains with Dead by daylight Still one of the major players in the field of multiplayer horror games, but the cancellation of Project T shows that even established studios are not immune to challenges and difficult decisions.

The studio's fans now hope that Behavior Interactive will learn from this experience and focus on projects that can be successful both commercially and in terms of gameplay. The Casting of Frank Stone, another spin-off of the Dead by daylight-Series.
