Haryana Assembly Election: Congress announces 7 key guarantees for Haryana election, including legal MP, Rs 6,000 pension | Politics

PTC Newsroom: With an eye on the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana, the Congress party has put forward seven key promises to influence voters, including a legal guarantee of minimum supply price (MSP) and a caste survey.

On Wednesday, the Congress unveiled its key promises under a comprehensive social security plan, with highlights including a monthly pension of Rs 6,000 for the elderly, the disabled and widows. The party also pledged to reinstate the old pension system to win over government employees.

To meet the energy needs of households, Congress promised 300 units of free electricity per month. The party also promised to bear the medical expenses of citizens up to Rs 250 crore.

The Congress promised agriculture that it would introduce a legal MSP guarantee, a long-standing demand of farmers across the country. In addition, the party assured that it would conduct a caste survey and raise the income limit for the upper class from Rs 600,000 to Rs 1 crore.

These commitments were announced at a press conference attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Haryana Congress leader Udai Bhan and other senior party leaders.

Stressing that the party is determined to fulfil these promises, Kharge said, “We will implement these guarantees and that is why we have called it 'Saat Vaade, Pakke Irade'.” He also noted that while the seven guarantees are central, a more detailed 53-page manifesto will be unveiled in Chandigarh, detailing other promises.

The assembly elections in Haryana are scheduled for October 5, with the counting of votes to take place on October 8. This election is crucial for the Congress party, which has struggled to maintain a strong political presence in the state in recent years.
