Borrell warns of war spreading to Lebanon after mass pager explosion

ALBAWABA – Following the tragic mass explosion of a pager in Beirut's Dahieh district, which killed at least nine people and left more than 2,800 dead, European Commission Vice-President Josep Borrell warned of a “spread” of war to Lebanon.

In a joint press conference with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, Borrell warned that stirring up the already simmering waters in the Middle East would only lead to an expansion of the war with Israel and a further deterioration of the already dire situation.

“There is certainly a possibility that the war will spread to Lebanon,” Borrell said.
