Whether at the front or among the pursuers: Formula 1 is more exciting than it has been for a long time. In Baku, the drivers show numerous maneuvers that are close for a long time but end well. Shortly before the end, there is a violent crash. Nico Hülkenberg is not directly involved, but he is still the one who suffers.

Formula 1: Accident shortly before the end

Had war happened? A few laps before the end of the race, Sergio Perez attacked Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari and tried to grab second place. But the Monegasque defended himself as best he could and held on to his position. And that wasn't enough. Carlos Sainz took advantage of Perez's distraction in his slipstream and overtook the Red Bull.

But Perez didn't want to give up so easily. On the next straight, he sat next to his opponent. But on the straight stretch, they made contact and both cars crashed violently into the wall. All that was left of the cars were piles of scrap. The race ended without any points for either Formula 1 star.

Hülkenberg deprived of his reward

At this point, Nico Hülkenberg felt he was further back in the field, fighting for 10th place and thus for a point. Due to the failure of the two tough guys in front of him, he would have even comfortably finished in the points. However, this dream was shattered when he passed the scene of the accident.

There, some of the debris damaged his car, causing him to lose speed quickly. Despite the virtual safety car, he was relegated to 11th place. So no points for the German…

He then appeared annoyed at the Sky microphone. “Everything that could go wrong went wrong,” he said of the scene. He now has to digest the race. “We lost everything. So we are disappointed and frustrated.”

Formula 1: Bearman triumphs

One of the beneficiaries was teammate Ollie Bearman, who scored points for the second time in his second appearance in the premier class. A hint of what Haas can look forward to from next season when the Ferrari junior drives permanently for the US racing team.
