Pine Grove man arrested after alleged strangulation during domestic dispute in Pottsville

A Pine Grove man is facing charges after pleading guilty to an alleged domestic violence incident in Pottsville on Sunday.

According to Pottsville Police, on Sunday, September 15, 2024, shortly before 5:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area between Skidmore Street and Peacock Street for a violent domestic altercation between a man and a woman.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a man identified as Kyle Crain, 20 years old, of Pine Grove.

Crain told police he was playing pool with his 19-year-old girlfriend in the Pottsville Zone and they had a verbal argument while driving home. Crain said during the verbal argument, the female victim pulled over and got into the vehicle. Crain said he did not know where she went, but she exited her vehicle and took her car keys. Officers made contact with the victim in the 300 block of Peacock Street, who had visible injuries that she said were inflicted by Crain.

Crain was taken into police custody and the victim provided more information. She said she was driving home from playing pool in the Pottsville Zone with her boyfriend, Kyle Crain, and he was upset because she was driving her car. She said during the argument, Crain punched her in the chest and arms while driving. The victim said at one point Crain choked her with his hands, causing her to struggle to breathe. The female victim said she pulled over because she needed to get away from Crain and fled onto Peacock Street.

Officers noticed visible redness and bruising on the victim's neck, chest, arm and back.

Based on the above investigation, Colonel Fanelli requested an arrest warrant for Kyle Crain for Strangulation (F1), Simple Assault (M2), and Harassment (S).

Crain was arraigned before Magistrate District Judge James Riley, who set bail at $20,000. Crain was unable to post bail and was taken to the Schuylkill County Jail. On Monday, Crain was released after posting bail through a professional surety on Monday.
