BJP launches devastating attack on Prime Minister-designate Atishi

On Tuesday, Delhi's BJP launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister-designate Atishi, calling her a “puppet chief minister” and alleging that Arvind Kejriwal had pushed Delhi towards “anarchy and communism” by nominating her for the post.

Delhi BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva said, “The citizens of Delhi, who are already suffering under a corrupt government, will now have to endure an anti-national government. History shows that Atishi has held anti-national and anti-social views on various issues, from the Kargil war to others. She has even said, 'Vote for goons but not the capable ones (BJP).'”

On Atishi's remark that Delhi has only one chief minister and his name is Arvind Kejriwal, Sachdeva alleged that Atishi has exposed herself as a puppet minister by admitting that Kejriwal will remain the real chief minister. “The only question now is whether Kejriwal or Sisodia will hold the remote control,” he claimed, adding that the AAP could not hide the black spots of corruption, incompetence and chaos.

The Delhi BJP leader noted that Kejriwal was and will continue to be guilty in the eyes of the people of Delhi. Bansuri Swaraj, BJP MP from New Delhi also noted, “Today is an unfortunate day for Delhi because the total freeze on development work imposed by the Delhi government remains unchanged, whatever it looks like. Atishi's own statement reveals her disappointment with the situation.”

She claimed that Atishi will be the face of the President but Kejriwal will hold the power. “Kejriwal is not fighting to save democracy but to destroy it and now Atishi has joined him in this endeavour,” she claimed, adding that Atishi's statement has set back women's empowerment by 1,000 years. Bansuri said, “Kejriwal has all the power without being held accountable for it.”

Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, BJP's South Delhi MP, attacked the Delhi government and said that Atishi's appointment as the new Delhi Chief Minister will not erase the sins of the Kejriwal government. “The AAP government will have to answer for the state of Delhi due to corruption, short-sightedness and inefficiency in the last ten years. As a minister, Atishi bears the same responsibility for the same,” he claimed.

He explained that the AAP had to replace Kejriwal with Atishi as the Supreme Court had barred him from holding the office of Chief Minister as he is surrounded by corruption.

Delhi BJP vice president Kapil Mishra claimed that the AAP is busy with propaganda and corruption, but the BJP is working consistently on the ground. “The Lieutenant Governor has signed an ordinance giving people ownership rights over their ancestral lands, which will soon become a reality. The people of Delhi are now determined to bring the BJP to power to change the future of the city,” he said. Staff reporter in New Delhi
