Postecoglou confirms Spurs midfielder will miss EFL Cup match against Coventry

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Yves Bissouma will not be fit for Wednesday's EFL Cup match at Coventry.

The midfielder missed Sunday's disappointing 1-0 home defeat to arch-rivals Arsenal due to a groin injury sustained while playing for Mali.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game, the Spurs boss said: “No, Biss (Bissouma) is not where we want him yet,” adding: “Hopefully there is still a chance at the weekend” when Spurs travel across London to face Brentford.

The news is another blow for the Australian, who has come under pressure after a poor start to the season.

The 28-year-old's absence could mean that either Archie Gray or Lucas Bergvall could be given a chance against the Championship side in the third round of a competition that saw the north Londoners last win a cup in 2008.
