Miami man arrested after stabbing girlfriend's son with pocket knife, cops say

MIAMI – A Miami man was arrested months after authorities say he stabbed his girlfriend's teenage son during a domestic dispute, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

According to a Miami Police Department police report, the incident occurred after officers were called to a home shortly after 8:30 p.m. on May 18 in response to a domestic dispute that had escalated into a fight.

According to authorities, 37-year-old Emmanuel Brown's girlfriend told officers that the argument started when he arrived at a house to drop off their four-year-old daughter.

Police did not disclose the reason for the argument, but the report said tensions between the couple quickly escalated.

During the argument, authorities said, Brown grabbed a perfume bottle from the porch and threw it through the kitchen window, breaking the glass inside the house. The report stated that the noise frightened the woman and her two children, who were inside the house at the time.

Although the bottle broke on the kitchen floor, no one was injured at first, according to police.

According to authorities, the woman's 15-year-old son went outside shortly afterwards to confront Brown, after which an argument broke out between the two.

According to the woman's statement to police, during the argument between the two, Brown pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the teenager in the left palm, causing a deep cut.

According to police, the woman intervened out of fear of further violence and managed to end the fight.

According to investigators, Brown fled the scene in a black Chevrolet pickup truck before police arrived.

Miami Fire Department arrived at the home and treated the male teenager. Paramedics advised the boy to go to the hospital to possibly get stitches on his left palm, but his mother refused at the time.

According to police, Brown evaded arrest for months. However, after an investigation, authorities were able to track him down and take him into custody shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday.

Jail records show he is charged with one count each of firing or throwing a deadly projectile, child abuse causing great bodily harm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and malicious damage to property.

He has been held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center since Tuesday, where his bail has not yet been decided.
