Woman arrested for child abuse and burglary

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – SHREVEPORT POLICE INFORMATION:

Shreveport Police have arrested a woman following a burglary and child abuse incident in the 2700 block of Randolph Street.

Officers initially responded to a report of a missing child and made contact with 29-year-old Kenyana Fuggins. During the investigation, officers reported that the child had run away because of violence at home. The child sought refuge in a neighbor's home. According to witness statements and evidence collected, Fuggins forcibly entered the neighbor's home and began assaulting the child in the presence of the property owners.

Based on the child's injuries and corroborating witness statements, Fuggins was arrested and charged with one count of burglary and one count of cruelty to juveniles.

Shreveport Police remind parents that while structure and discipline are important in raising children, any form of punishment must be appropriate. Disciplining a child should not be done with the intent to cause harm.
