Police investigate Mercedes driver after drunken crash

Chemnitz- Crazy drunk crash in Chemnitz on Monday afternoon! A Mercedes driver (50) drove off the road while drunk, sped into the oncoming lane and crashed into a house wall and two cars. An investigation is now underway police against the 50-year-old.

At around 4:20 p.m., the Mercedes driver was traveling on Frankenberger Straße (B 169) towards the city center.

Then it happened. “Not far from the intersection of Frankenberger Strasse and Helmholtzstrasse, the Mercedes veered off the road to the left, drove over the central reservation and ended up on the opposite lane,” explains a police spokeswoman.

There was a huge crash! First the Mercedes hit a parked Mercedes Viano, then it slammed into a house wall and finally crashed into a parked Kia.

The Mercedes also lost a tire, which could be seen a few meters away from the vehicle. Some car parts were also scattered around the accident site.

The Mercedes was massively damaged in the accident – the front of the vehicle was completely demolished after the crash! According to the police, the driver sustained minor injuries.

The fire brigade and rescue services arrived quickly. The emergency services took care of the driver and secured the accident site.

Overall, the damage to property amounted to around 65,000 euros. The police quickly carried out an alcohol test on the 50-year-old. The result: he had a blood alcohol level of 0.82 per mille.

The German driver had a blood test in hospital and his driving license was confiscated. Because he had drunk alcohol before driving, he was also charged with endangering road traffic.

Frankenberger Straße had to be closed briefly on Monday afternoon due to the accident.
