Chicago police shoot suspect on Jeffery Boulevard in South Shore, CPD says

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police officers shot and killed a suspect during a foot chase on the South Side on Monday night, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a person with a weapon in the 7100 block of South Jeffery Boulevard at around 10:16 p.m.

According to police, officers encountered a man with a gun who fled and pointed the gun at officers, who then shot the suspect.

The suspect continued to flee and approached officers armed, whereupon an officer shot the suspect again, police said.

The suspect was then arrested and a weapon was recovered, police said. No one was injured by gunfire and the suspect was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said. The officers involved were also taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.
