Suspect and victim identified after fatal stabbing in Pismo Beach

Two men involved in a fatal stabbing were identified by police days after the fatal incident at a Pismo Beach residence.

Pismo Beach police announced Monday that Andrew Rodriguez of Santa Maria was arrested after killing Jonathan Perez at a home in the 1200 block of Price Street on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Rodriguez was arrested Sunday afternoon after being released from a Ventura-area hospital. Rodriguez fled to Ventura after the alleged murder and attempted to take his own life there, police said.

The two men were known acquaintances, police said. A motive for the stabbing was not disclosed. Their ages were also not disclosed.

Rodriguez was extradited to San Luis Obispo County and remanded to the county jail without bail, police said.
