Tom Brady will not play for Patriots rival (report)

The Dolphins said they would bring in a new quarterback to step in after Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion and it is unclear when he will return.

It is not yet known who Miami will sign, but a quarterback can be ruled out.

“I know a lot of people have suggested bringing Tom Brady out of retirement. That's not going to happen if Tom Brady goes to Miami,” ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on “NFL Countdown” on Sunday morning.

Brady retired after the 2022 season. He left the game with seven Super Bowl victories – six with the New England Patriots – and a number of accolades. He came out of retirement once, but it doesn't look like that will happen again.

The Dolphins were once linked to Brady. In 2022, Miami was found to have violated the NFL's tampering policy in talks the organization had with Brady. This resulted in the Dolphins losing their 2023 first-round pick and their 2024 third-round pick.

However, the Patriots Hall of Famer is still in the NFL. Brady began his career as a commentator on FOX in Week 1 of the season, when he commentated on the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns. Reviews were mixed, but Brady has worked to improve each week.

As for the Dolphins, they will stick with Skylar Thompson at quarterback in Tagovailoa's absence.
