Execution of a Ukrainian soldier with a sword: urgent investigation and search operations

Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the alleged execution of a Ukrainian soldier by representatives of the Russian armed forces.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

As mentioned above, on September 17, 2024, a post was published in one of the Telegram channels about the alleged execution of a Ukrainian defender by representatives of the Russian Armed Forces in the city of Novohrodivka.

The published photos show that the occupiers stabbed a soldier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the body with a sword. In the picture, the dead soldier is missing his equipment and has adhesive tape on one hand.

Officers of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Donetsk and Luhansk regions have initiated a criminal case on the grounds of violation of the laws and customs of war in connection with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Police officers are conducting urgent investigations and searches. They are investigating the circumstances of the crime in order to identify the people involved and the perpetrators.

“The criminal regime continues its deliberate policy of destroying everything Ukrainian, demonstrating its brutal cruelty to the whole world and cynically disregarding all the values ​​and norms of the civilized world. Our goal is to find and punish all those involved in these crimes. The world must see the atrocities of the occupiers and respond decisively to each of these cases,” stressed Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin.

As Ukrinform previously reported, at the beginning of September, Ukrainian law enforcement officials were investigating 28 criminal cases into the murder of 62 Ukrainian prisoners of war, and four Russian soldiers were served with suspicion notices in these cases.
